Acupuncture has been practiced and honed in China for more than 3,000 years to effectively prevent and heal acute and chronic conditions.
The acupuncturist gently inserts fine, sterile, stainless-steel needles into the patient’s skin to stimulate acupuncture points. The treatment elicits various body responses that restore function and balance and decrease pain. The goal is to promote the body’s innate ability to heal, and to provide the body with guidance (via the needles) to do so most efficiently. The treatment addresses both the root of the problem and the presenting symptoms.
Scientific research finds that acupuncture promotes blood circulation, modulates neurotransmitter activity, and facilitates parasympathetic nervous system activity in order to help to put the body in a state of rest, digest, and heal.
*Acupuncture is the cornerstone of all my treatments. I additionally interweave Tuna bodywork, herbal medicine, cupping, moxabustion, and Chinese and Ayurvedic nutrition and lifestyle counseling as appropriate.
